Alighatti was born on 21 June 1984 in Easton, Pennsylvania and is of Scottish decent. She grew up mainly in the much smaller town of Wind Gap, Pennsylvania, some 20 miles NW of Easton, where she worked at the Bit By Bit Equestrian Center, a large facility devoted to training and instruction in various equine events. She was 13 when she started at the Equestrian Center and by the time she left in 2002 she had become an assistant manager.

After high school she immediately enrolled in college to study French at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia a small liberal arts college related by covenant to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). While enrolled at Lynchburg College, she was a fellow of the Westover Honors Program. She left college in 2004 without a degree and moved to Los Angeles, California.

Since beginning her adult film career she has appeared in around 60 films and is featured on innumerable websites. In 2006 she won two Adult Video News (AVN) Awards; Best Group Sex Scene and Best Oral Sex Scene for her work in the critically acclaimed Darkside.

In addition to appearing in Hardcore (anal, DP, Gonzo) porn films she has also performed in bondage and fetish titles.
